System Overview A handheld detection device consisting of a compact array of 256 electrodes is pressed gently onto the breast to be examined. A clip containing two reference electrodes is attached to one wrist. Small, safe pulses of electrical current (0.5mA, 50 kHz) are then passed through the breast tissue to initiate the procedure. A microprocessor selects one of the 256 electrodes to be the active electrode while the remaining 255 are measured for potential voltage drop. This procedure continues for each electrode until 65,280 voltage measurements are taken within 20 seconds. The detection device is connected to a medical-grade PC port during the procedure and data is reconstructed by proprietary software into direct-to-digital tomography conductivity images of the breast. Seven tomography image slices are created within 40 seconds at depths of 0.4 cm to 4.6 cm to detect and isolate tumors. These coronal images include tissue near the chest wall. The EICM breast cancer detection image reconstruction process can be compared to CT or PET but without x-ray or ionizing radiation of any kind, and at a much lower cost. The EICM Breast Cancer Detection can provide full coverage of the breast without compression and uses no radiation. It is easy to use and is comfortable to the patient Interpretation and Analysis.
